As we continue our celebration of Pinappos’ birth, it only makes sense to celebrate with some cake! Or in this case a cake flavored energy drink.
Like a lot of people, my first foray into energy drinks was with Red Bull. While it wasn’t the first energy drink, Red Bull was the energy drink that made energy drinks popular. Upon first sip, I was an instant fan. Although before I had that first sip, I remember people talking about the terrible flavor. My personal enjoyment of the flavor aside, there’s no denying that flavor has been one of the biggest issues people have with any energy drink. In fact, bad flavor has become synonymous with energy drinks.
People just accepted drinking bad flavored energy drinks for the energy that might come with it. Then Bang energy drinks came onto the scene with taste being one of their key selling points and changed expectations.
It should come as no surprise then, that Bang has quickly gained popularity in a crowded market. But are the flavors really as good as their marketing team wants everyone to think? Can a drink really capture the flavor of a birthday cake? That’s what I aimed to find out when I tried Bang energy drink’s Birthday Cake Bash for the first time.
As for whether Birthday Cake Bash tastes like an actual birthday cake — the answer is yes and no. Upon my first sip, I was pleasantly surprised at how much this tasted like an actual birthday cake. In a strange way it tastes like a juicy cake. Unfortunately, the more I drank it, the less birthday cake I got from it. That’s not to say it lacked a cake taste, but rather it lacked a cake’s texture. Part of a cake’s appeal is how full and rich it is, but that fullness and richness is really lacking in liquid form. This tastes more like cake aftertaste. Like the taste in your mouth right after you’ve taken a bite of birthday cake. With a real cake, in order to re-enrich your mouth with that full cake craving, you just keep eating. In this liquid form, drinking more doesn’t satisfy that craving.
Even without that cake fullness, I still really enjoy this flavor. I can definitely see myself getting more Birthday Cake Bash.
Only time will tell if all Bang energy drinks share this level of flavor, but based on Birthday Cake Bash, I look forward to reviewing more.
