MagnifiScents: Boss The Scent

One of the most asked questions I get as a fragrance connoisseur is, “What is your signature scent?” As a reviewer (always testing new fragrances) and an aficionado (with a massive perfume collection), it’s very rare for me to be able to wear a fragrance more than once. Boss The Scent by Hugo Boss is perhaps as close to a signature fragrance that I’ve ever come.

The Scent is a simple, yet elegantly stunning fragrance that works in all situations and I’m always happy to wear. There’s notes of ginger, lavender, and mandarin with a distinct leather dancing in the background. The real magic, however, comes from the maninka fruit. This aphrodisiac smells like a red apple and strawberry blend dipped in Nutella.

Boss’ The Scent is a fragrance that necessitates wearing to truly experience, because if it’s only smelled as a sample sprayed on a card it can come across as strolling through the mall “clone cologne” territory.

Only when worn does the depth and intricacies really become appreciable. Teasing with an essence of familiarity, while surprising with quiet confidence and sensuality.

Hugo Boss’ The Scent doesn’t shout for attention. It doesn’t need to. People nearby recognize how good it smells.

Scent profile: leather covered in red apples and strawberries that were dipped in Nutella.
